The Appalachian Heritage Music Program was held today at Riverview and this was definitely the best we’ve had so far! A large number of our Elders came out to enjoy the music and to sing along. We were also joined by the kids from our annual summer camp, Camp Riverview. Director of Spirituality Phillip Ramey sang songs of our mountain heritage, including songs about childhood, love, heartache, and days gone by. We even got a special performance from our HR Director Lana Calhoun as she sang “Pretty Polly” to the delight of our elders while her son Jacob played the banjo. The Appalachian Music Heritage Music Program is held the last Friday of each month, and is just one of many programs and activities that take place here everyday. Here are a few pictures from today’s event.
