The long anticipated wait for the opening of the new movie theatre in Prestonsburg is nearly over. The brand new Riverview Theatre is set to open on Monday, November 30 at 2:00pm. The movie theatre is located inside of Riverview HealthCARE. Our Riverview home is actually more like a small community that already features a local lunch time favorite, The Mugg-Z Café, the Fred Harris Memorial Library, Riverview Community Chapel, Riverview Post Office, the Riverview Barber Shop and Hair Salon, and the Riverview Restaurant & Grille. We are very excited about the opening of the new movie theatre and we know it will be enjoyed by our elders and families.
The community is invited to attend the grand opening ceremony and help us dedicate this new theatre to our elders here at Riverview. It will be a “red carpet” premiere as our elders will walk down the red carpet to view the official opening of the theatre. There will be refreshments and other events to mark the grand opening. Our elders have spent the last few weeks voting on the first movie. After weeks of voting it has been determined that the first showing will be a double feature consisting of two holiday classic. “Frosty the Snowman” and “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” will certainly get our elders in the holiday mood as we enter into December. The popcorn machine will be popping, the shelves will be stocked with classic theatre snacks, and the grand opening of the new Riverview Theatre is sure to be a blockbuster!
