Riverview Opens New Community Center

Community centers are public locations where members of a community tend to gather for group activities, social support, public information, and other purposes. Community centers can be found in nearly every town, large or small, and generally perform many functions in the community. From community celebrations, public meetings, social events, to housing local clubs or volunteer activities, these centers are a valuable part of any community. Our community here at Riverview already has a café, movie theatre, public library, restaurant, miniature golf course, and many more attractions that would be found in any community. Today we were honored to host the grand opening of a brand new attraction, the Kallimos Community Center. This center will play a vital role in the community here at Riverview, hosting neighborhood meetings, club and organizations, community exhibits, as well as culture change workshops and other educational offerings. It is even equipped with a brand new Music & Memory Station that has iPods loaded with personalized playlist for the Elder’s enjoyment.

As part of the grand opening, we welcomed the Ashland Community & Technical College with their Mobile Technology Lab. The Elders experienced some amazing “hands on” technology including a virtual reality exhibit and robotic companion pets. This was a great partnership and a fantastic start to all the opportunities that this center will bring to our Riverview community.

Check out some pictures from the grand opening and be sure to stop by and see all the wonderful attractions that our community has to offer, including our newest attraction, the Kallimos Community Center!
