There’s a line in the old hymn song “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” that says “…what a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer…” It certainly is a wonderful privilege we have that we may come boldly to God’s throne of grace, that we might obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need. I remember a story a friend of mine told me that happened several years ago as their family had gathered together for a family dinner. The mother had ask her young son if he would like to say a prayer to bless the food. He bowed his head in silence. After a few moments everyone began to look around, wondering if he was going to say anything. Suddenly the young boy shouted out “AMEN!!!” His mother quickly asked, “why did you say amen…I didn’t hear you say anything?” The boy immediately replied…“that’s because I wasn’t talking to you.” No matter what we may be going through, regardless of if anyone else even understands or hears…its a privilege that we can take it ALL to God in prayer…..He is listening.
