National Day of Prayer 2015

The annual National Day of Prayer Pancake Breakfast was held at Riverview HealthCARE Center this morning. We welcomed a large number of people from the community into our home and a pancake breakfast was provided for all in attendance. Administrator Missy Allen gave some opening remarks to begin the program. Chaplain Phillip Ramey opened with prayer and provided a special song for the crowd.

The Mayor of Prestonsburg, Les Stapleton, was on hand to read and sign a National Day of Prayer proclamation from the city. He was followed by Ben Hale, County Judge Executive, who then presented a county proclamation as well. We were blessed to have a group of high school students join us from the Piarist School.

They sang a song and prayed a prayer for our schools. Brian Conn from the Floyd County Times newspaper spoke about the importance of community and then offered a prayer on behave of our community. He was then followed by Pastor Richard Greene of the Licking River Baptist Church who prayed a prayer for the churches in our community.

A special prayer for our nation was then given by a local business owner Al Slone of KING Supply. With a few parting words and announcements of upcoming events the program concluded with a prayer of dismissal. This was a great time not only for our home and our elders, but also for our community. We are already looking forward to next year’s National Day of Prayer Pancake Breakfast.
